Addressing Hidden Stress this Summer
As the rainy season transitions into summer, many employees start to experience various physical and mental health issues that can lead to a phenomenon known as 'silent resignation.' These issues often originate from what is termed 'silent stress,' which is overlooked and remains unspoken in workplaces.
Kogure Taichi, a language consultant with 67 published works, is leading a special course designed to address these emerging challenges. This training initiative, held from June 16 to July 31, aims to facilitate open discussions about the often unexpressed stressors that arise during the summer months.
The Dangers of 'Silent Stress'
Kogure emphasizes the importance of recognizing that summer-related health problems are not limited to physical ailments like heatstroke or fatigue. Instead, they manifest as vague feelings of dissatisfaction and reduced motivation. Employees may struggle to articulate these feelings, often dismissing them as mere whining or choosing to suffer in silence. This accumulation of 'silent stress' can lead to decreased employee engagement, reduced productivity, and ultimately, silent departures from the organization. This trend can particularly accelerate after summer vacations when the gap between exhaustion and work obligations becomes more pronounced.
A survey conducted by Job Research Institute in May 2025 revealed that 44.5% of respondents were already feeling the effects of summer fatigue, with a significant number expressing concerns over their ability to refresh during breaks.
Join the 'Summer Workplace Motivation Course'
To combat this 'summer silence stress,' the Education Communication Association has designed a special course named 'Summer Workplace Motivation Course,' which Kogure will be conducting until the end of July. This program encapsulates the essence of traditional language workshops, focusing specifically on the pressures that arise during the summer months and offering practical strategies for coping.

- - Psychological Safety: Understand how to foster an environment where difficult topics can be discussed openly between supervisors and subordinates.
