Mynavi Partners Introduces Advance Camp for College Students
Mynavi Partners, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is set to launch a unique short-term program named "Advance Camp" on March 10. This initiative is tailored for first and second-year college students exhibiting certain characteristics of developmental disabilities, even if they do not possess an official disability certificate or diagnosis. The program runs for four days and aims not merely at skill acquisition, but at fostering correct self-understanding and teaching students to cope with everyday challenges.

The launch of Advance Camp represents a progressive approach within Japanese companies, as there are few similar programs aimed at supporting these students. The initiative acknowledges the growing number of college students facing difficulties that stem from various communication and interpersonal relationship challenges. Data from Osaka Prefecture highlights that among 41,868 university graduates, approximately 12.6% encounter career indecision or unstable employment, a situation that often includes students with developmental disabilities.
Growing Need for Support
A nationwide survey indicates a rising trend in the number of students with disabilities, marking a significant change in educational landscapes. As per the Japan Student Support Organization, students with disabilities exceeded 50,000 for the first time in 2024, with the number of students exhibiting developmental disorders increasing from 7,654 to 11,923 within five years. By 2024, this group accounted for 21.5% of all students with disabilities—second only to those with mental disorders, representing 35.0%.
Nevertheless, challenges persist as the rate of employment among students with disabilities is notably low. Among 8,571 graduates with disabilities, only 4,951 secured jobs, and similarly, out of 1,919 graduates with developmental disabilities, only 971 found employment. These statistics suggest that many of these students struggle during job selection and application processes, hindering their potential success.
Students entering their university years often lack the support and the recognition of their conditions, which can delay their readiness for the job market. However, those who receive timely support are more likely to advance confidently in their future career paths.
In response to these challenges, Mynavi Partners designed the Advance Camp program to cultivate essential skills in students while enhancing their self-awareness. The agenda includes activities such as personal storytelling from industry professionals and guidance on self-care and professional development. The aim is to help students recognize their unique strengths and make informed decisions regarding their future.
