Parrish Medical Center Secures Major Grants for Rural Health Transformation

Parrish Medical Center has recently been recognized as one of the pioneering healthcare providers in Florida to obtain significant funding through the state's Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). The center was awarded over $5.2 million in federal grants intended to enhance health services and workforce development in rural regions.

In a recent announcement made by Governor Ron DeSantis, Parrish Medical Center was highlighted as a standout organization among 81 applicants statewide. The funding provided consists of two primary grants: approximately $4.4 million allocated for preventive healthcare and home care initiatives, and an additional $793,000 dedicated to workforce development efforts. Governor DeSantis emphasized the importance of these investments, stating, "These investments in rural Florida will strengthen hospitals and clinics, expand the rural health care workforce, and help ensure Floridians can access high-quality care in their own communities."

A Vision for Community Health

George Mikitarian, the president and CEO of Parrish Medical Center, expressed enthusiasm about the impact these grants will have on improving healthcare access and providing job opportunities within the community. He stated, "Qualifying for these grants will result in healthcare improvements and vocational opportunities for individuals and families we serve. Participants will not only gain valuable skills but will also be expected to commit to a five-year service period in rural settings, ensuring stability and continuity in care.
