Hengrui Pharma Showcases 64 Innovative Oncology Research Findings at ESMO Congress 2026
Hengrui Pharma, a leading global pharmaceutical company, is set to make waves at the 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress in Madrid, taking place from October 23 to 27. This year marks a significant milestone for the company, as it will present a remarkable total of 64 research findings from its innovative oncology portfolio. This includes three selected oral presentations, three rapid oral presentations, 32 printed posters, and 26 electronic posters.
Highlights from the Research
The studies cover over ten areas within oncology and supportive care, with a strong emphasis on antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) targeting HER2 and HER3, which are pivotal in treating breast and lung cancers. This congress is Hengrui’s eleventh consecutive participation, showcasing their commitment to advancing cancer treatment and improving patient outcomes.
Among the highlighted studies, two independently developed ADCs stand out: trastuzumab rezetecan (SHR-A1811), targeting HER2, and ruzaltatug rezetecan (SHR-A2009), targeting HER3. These findings are addressing critical therapeutic needs in advanced breast and lung cancer.
Trastuzumab rezetecan will feature in the HORIZON-Breast06 trial, a phase 3 randomized study focusing on patients with low HER2-expressing advanced breast cancer. Spearheaded by academic Binghe Xu from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, this research aims to delve into the therapeutic potential of this drug within this patient population. Notably, trastuzumab rezetecan is being explored for more than ten indications, encompassing breast, lung, gastric, colorectal, and cervical cancers.
On the other hand, the HERON-Lung01 study, led by Professor Yi-Long Wu from the Guangdong Provincial Hospital, will present interim analyses comparing ruzaltatug rezetecan to platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring EGFR mutations. This ADC has received a fast-track designation from both the National Medical Products Administration of China and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Advancements in Established and Emerging Therapies
Hengrui Pharma is also expanding the clinical value of established therapies. Their PD-1 inhibitor, camrelizumab, will be part of the UNION trial, assessing a neoadjuvant regimen of short-cycle radiotherapy followed by camrelizumab and chemotherapy for locally advanced rectal cancer. Additionally, a rapid oral presentation will discuss promising outcomes from a phase 2 study on the ADC SHR-A2102, aimed at treating recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer.
Furthermore, the preliminary results from a phase 2 trial of HRS-4642, a KRAS G12D inhibitor, in combination with chemotherapy or adebrelimab, will be shared. This study focuses on treating pancreatic cancer with KRAS G12D mutations and has received innovative therapy designation in China for its use in first-line treatment for advanced or metastatic cases.
