Embracing Everyday Joy: The Premiere of 'Today, We Two, Skip Together'
On October 4th, 2025, NTT Docomo's streaming service, Lemino®, launched their newest original drama,
'Today, We Two, Skip Together', at a special premiere event on October 6th. The story, based on a heartfelt essay, explores the small moments of happiness in a couple’s life, portraying the marriage of the characters played by
Sayuri Matsumura and
Jin Shirasu. These two talented actors, in their first on-screen collaboration, graced the event as if they had stepped straight out of the drama itself.
The Unforgettable Premiere Event
The venue was filled with couples, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. As the actors entered the hall, the audience cheered. Sayuri expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m really looking forward to spending this fun time with everyone!” Jin, donning a more formal outfit for the occasion, emphasized the casual tone of the show: “We’re dressed up today, but the show is super laid-back. Let’s enjoy it together!”
The series, inspired by an essay depicting the couple's funny and heartwarming moments, captures the essence of married life. Sayuri reflected on her role as the wife, revealing, “When I read the original work, I had a different image of the character. Through shooting, I gradually understood what it meant to play this role.”
In a candid moment, Jin admitted, “It wasn’t easy to grasp the character of the husband at first. They may seem like an ordinary couple, but they have their quirks, which made it challenging to embody my role.” Despite this, they found that the balance of comedy inherent in their characters was crucial. “It’s a comedic piece, but we made sure not to overdo it. That fine line required great collaboration with the director and each other,” he explained, signifying how the shoot was both exhausting and healing for them.
Lighthearted Behind the Scenes
The duo shared laughs, recounting a hilarious incident during filming when Sayuri actually fell asleep, not waking up even when they were supposed to start shooting. Jin shared this amusing moment with the audience, stating, “She was supposed to act waking up, but she didn’t budge when we called ‘Action!’ We all couldn’t help but laugh!” Grinning, Sayuri acknowledged, “I tend to sleep quite deeply. I totally knocked out while everyone was watching!”
When asked about moments where they felt a genuine connection, Sayuri noted she felt supported throughout the process, stating, “The series involves many scenes between just the two of us. At first, I was apprehensive about delivering my lines, but interacting with Jin made it easier.” Jin echoed her sentiment and they shared a moment of laughter, both acknowledging each other’s contributions.
In a light-hearted discussion about their favorite foods, Jin mentioned his fondness for anko (sweet red bean paste), while Sayuri playfully teased about his
