Supporting California Communities After Wildfires
The California Fire Foundation (CFF) has made remarkable strides in assisting communities ravaged by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. With immense support from generous donors, the foundation has raised over $20 million for relief efforts in just two months following the calamity. This robust funding is vital to support families and restore communities affected by the blazes.
Immediate Support for Victims
In response to the disastrous wildfires, CFF has implemented immediate relief strategies. They distributed a total of
7,263 Disaster Relief SAVE Cards, providing more than
$1.8 million in financial assistance to approximately
23,000 families, inclusive of
4,837 children desperate for aid. These cards offer essential resources and serve as a lifeline to those facing dire circumstances in the aftermath of the fires.
Furthermore, the foundation has ensured that victims have access to food and resources through the allocation of vouchers: $500,000 in Uber Eats vouchers, $20,000 in Postmates vouchers, and over $54,000 in DoorDash gift cards. These initiatives aim to alleviate the immediate pressure on families, granting them access to nourishment during challenging times.
A Vision for Long-Term Recovery
Looking ahead, the CFF is committed to facilitating long-term support. The foundation has initiated
multi-year grant opportunities aimed at providing ongoing relief and recovery efforts. The first batch of grants will be available through the California Rises Disaster Relief Recovery Grant Application process. This community-centered approach encourages California-based fire departments, firefighter associations, federally recognized tribes, and nonprofits to apply for much-needed funds to assist in recovery.
Angie Carmignani, the executive director of CFF, stated, "Our commitment to the residents of Los Angeles County and Ventura County is unwavering during these trying times. The path to recovery is expected to be long, and our community's support will play a critical role in the process."
Mission of the California Fire Foundation
