Resolution Copper's Generous $285,000 Donation to Aid Food Security Efforts

Resolution Copper's Contribution to Food Security

Resolution Copper has made a significant financial commitment by donating $285,000 to the United Food Bank, a vital organization addressing hunger in the Copper Corridor and the East Valley. This partnership comes as food demand surges, particularly among tribal communities and working families who rely heavily on food assistance.

A Timely Initiative

The donation, which is part of a multi-year agreement lasting until December 2028, aims to assist neighborhoods experiencing unprecedented need for food resources. With changes in economic conditions leading to increased household expenses and food prices, many families are struggling to secure their next meal.

Serving a Vast Area

The funding will enable United Food Bank to expand its services across a colossal 19,000-square-mile region. This area encompasses parts of Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila counties, extending all the way to the New Mexico border and incorporating southern Navajo and Apache counties. The President and General Manager of Resolution Copper, Vicky Peacey, emphasized the company’s dedication to ensuring food security, especially within the communities that constitute the Copper Corridor, including Superior, Globe, and Miami.

A Community-Centric Approach

As Peacey rightly pointed out, "Mining has always been about more than minerals. It is about people." With strong roots in local communities, Resolution Copper has consistently recognized the importance of addressing basic needs, especially food security, as a fundamental part of fostering flourishing communities.

Jason Reed, the President and CEO of United Food Bank, highlighted the gravity of the partnership, noting that this ongoing support will significantly bolster their food assistance programs across Arizona. By doing so, they aim to address escalating food insecurity and ensure access to essential resources during emergencies when food and water access may be compromised.

The Rising Demand for Assistance

The year 2025 saw an astonishing rise in the demand for food assistance, an issue largely driven by economic uncertainty and escalating costs. Reed mentioned, "2025 was an especially challenging year for families across Arizona... demand for food assistance remains high as we begin 2026." This serves as a reminder that the need for support persists beyond just the holiday season.

United Food Bank collaborates with over 125 local partners, including food pantries, meal sites, shelters, and more, to create a vast network of support across their service area. While food drives play a role in replenishing supplies, financial contributions have a far-reaching impact that can help stabilize their operations.
