Lumene Group Embraces Advanced Cybersecurity for Brand Protection in a Digital Era

Lumene Group Upgrades Cybersecurity Solutions

In a significant move to bolster its defenses against brand counterfeiting and cyber threats, Finnish cosmetics company Lumene Group has upgraded its cybersecurity services in collaboration with Elisa. Initiated in 2024, this comprehensive upgrade signifies a new era in Lumene's approach to protecting its increasingly digitalized operations and brand integrity.

Lumene Group, well-known for its popular beauty brands like LUMENE, CUTRIN, and IDA WARG Beauty, has set ambitious targets to double its turnover by the end of the decade. As part of this vision, the upgraded cybersecurity measures are crucial. The company has heavily invested in enhancing the efficiency of its production facility in Espoo while recognizing that modern cybersecurity solutions are essential for sustainable growth.

Petri Pantsar, Head of IT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity at Lumene Group, emphasizes the importance of these investments. He stated, "We invested millions of euros in the production environment, and it would have been foolish to ignore cybersecurity. The comprehensive protection we have now built ensures that our production will not be disrupted and that we will maintain a safe, good, and stable workplace for our hundreds of employees also in the future."

The partnership with Elisa involves continuous monitoring through the Elisa Security Operations Center (SOC). This center provides 24/7 surveillance of potential cyber threats, ensuring rapid responses to any suspicious activities. The newly implemented protections include DDoS mitigation and advanced firewall systems, safeguarding both network connections in production facilities and retail locations.

Moreover, Lumene Group has incorporated a novel threat intelligence service to monitor online brand misuse and react promptly to any potential counterfeiting incidents. Pantsar highlights the tangible benefits of this service, noting, "The service has proven its value when we have been able to take action against, for example, fake websites." Since the startup of these services, Lumene Group has reported no data breaches, reflecting the effectiveness of the current cybersecurity measures, although continuous vigilance remains essential.

Lumene's cybersecurity upgrade also includes scheduled penetration testing and physical security audits to identify and rectify weaknesses within its systems. Pantsar praised Elisa's execution, remarking, "Elisa's experts found the right solutions, and projects have been completed on schedule, which is rare for such large-scale IT projects."

As a leading Nordic beauty company, Lumene is committed to sustainable practices while developing high-performing skincare and beauty products. The majority of their offerings are manufactured in-house, blending Nordic natural resources with scientific innovation. Operating in 26 countries, Lumene's market presence spans not just physical retail locations but also significant online channels, thanks to a dedicated team of over 370 professionals worldwide.

In striving for excellence, Lumene Group strives to uphold social and environmental responsibilities as a certified B Corporation™. Their ownership by Verdane, a European private equity firm focused on sustainable growth, aligns with their mission to combine efficacy with responsible practices. As the landscape of cybersecurity continues to evolve, Lumene's proactive measures are setting a standard in the beauty industry for safeguarding brand integrity in an increasingly complex digital world.
