NFPA and State Farm Join Forces for Fire Prevention Week 2025 Campaign

NFPA and State Farm Team Up for Fire Prevention Week 2025

The National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) is proudly partnering with State Farm® for the ninth consecutive year to promote Fire Prevention Week™, which will take place from October 5-11, 2025. This year’s theme, "Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-ion Batteries in the Home," emphasizes the importance of educating the public about the potential risks associated with the use of lithium-ion batteries, which power many common household devices.

State Farm will distribute nearly 4,800 Fire Prevention Week toolkits across 48 states. These toolkits contain a variety of resources such as brochures, posters, and magnets that local fire departments will utilize during school visits, community events, and open houses. Kelly Ransdell, the director of public education at NFPA, expressed gratitude for State Farm’s continuous support, stating, "The proactive support we receive from State Farm strengthens our ability to reach the public with critical fire safety messages," underscoring the need for effective fire safety education in homes where a significant number of U.S. fire fatalities occur.

Lithium-ion batteries are prevalent in our daily lives, powering devices like smartphones, tablets, laptops, e-cigarettes, and even toys. Ransdell noted that this campaign will help inform the public about proper purchasing, charging, and recycling practices for these batteries. "Helping people manage the risks of everyday life is a fundamental part of our mission," added Rasheed Merritt, assistant vice president of Corporate Responsibility at State Farm. Their collaborative efforts aim to provide timely information that can ultimately help in reducing the risks of home fires associated with these batteries.

Fire Prevention Week, which NFPA has sponsored for more than a century, serves as a vital public awareness campaign focused on diminishing the risk of home fires. The campaign aims to instill confidence in communities, equipping them with the necessary information to safeguard their homes and loved ones.
