Transforming HR in the face of the 2030 Problem
On May 15, 2025, OneHR Co., Ltd., known for its comprehensive HR and labor management system, had the honor of participating in the 3rd HR Leaders CAMP event organized by Eight. This prestigious forum brought together HR leaders to discuss pressing challenges and future strategies. OneHR's Head of HRTech SaaS Division, Kazunari Miyahara, took the stage to share transformative human resources strategies addressing the looming 2030 demographic challenge.
The Power of HR Influence
Miyahara began his presentation by emphasizing the unique influence that HR possesses over all employees. With a wealth of experience navigating both business and HR sides, he expressed his strong belief in HR's potential to drive meaningful change and highlighted the essential support that needs to be provided at the workplace.
OneHR boasts a team of approximately 350 employees, with a significant portion being engineers. The company has an impressive track record of implementing its systems across public and private sectors. Notably, OneHR has achieved ISMAP certification, a security standard crucial for government procurement of cloud services. Miyahara underscored the sensitivity of HR data, asserting, “We aim to be the most trusted partner in handling such confidential information.”
Understanding the 2030 Problem
The 2030 problem refers to the anticipated demographic shift, where the population aged 65 and over will constitute more than 30% of the total population. Miyahara highlighted that many companies have already begun facing severe labor shortages, framing this as a current challenge rather than a future concern.
He proposed two strategic approaches to address this issue:
1.
Quantitative Approach (Increasing the Workforce)
- This involves initiatives such as recruiting those who are not currently employed or bringing on talent from competing companies. While this approach is viable, Miyahara acknowledged the inherent challenges and limitations that it presents.
2.
Qualitative Approach (Enhancing Individual Productivity)
- Here, the importance of technology and HR synergy comes to the fore. Miyahara stressed that maximizing workplace output while minimizing input is crucial. He argued that establishing frameworks to secure time for strategic work is imperative, especially given that many tasks in HR are administration-heavy, thus limiting focus on strategic initiatives.
He further noted the inefficiencies caused by fragmented HR processes, where employees interact with multiple systems for various procedures. OneHR addresses this by offering an integrated system that simplifies HR tasks and encourages automatic data collection, thus enabling HR and employees to focus on their core responsibilities.
Aiming for Enhanced Output
Following the minimization of input, the next goal is maximizing output. Miyahara elaborated on how fostering individual employee growth leads to overall organizational productivity. He emphasized the need for an environment where human resource information can be accessed in real-time, allowing for data-driven strategic decision-making.
Building the Ideal HR Foundation
In his closing thoughts, Miyahara described OneHR's vision for an “ideal HR foundation.” He aims to eliminate the inconvenience of using various systems for different tasks, striving for a user-friendly interface that facilitates data collection organically. He highlighted the importance of understanding how to collect data effectively and utilize it in decision-making processes.
1. Develop systems that allow employees to “naturally” input data.
2. Integrate all human resources information into a single database.
3. Leverage integrated data for informed decision-making at both management and operational levels.
Miyahara concluded by stating that future HR strategies must be rooted in a triad of experience, intuition, and data-driven evidence (KKD). Creating an environment where everyone can contribute data easily is paramount.
As the HR sector faces substantial changes, OneHR remains committed to supporting sustainable growth for both individuals and organizations.
