Okayama University is set to host a practical workshop titled "Understanding National Policies for Young and Mid-Level Staff" on February 26-27, 2026. This event is designed to help young professionals develop their skills in understanding and leveraging national policy trends, thereby enhancing their contributions within the university setting. In this two-day event, participants will delve into the nuances of national policy and learn how to reflect these insights in their institutional strategies.

Aims and Objectives


This workshop seeks to address common challenges faced by young and mid-level university staff. Many professionals recognize the importance of being aware of national trends but may not know how to gather and interpret relevant information effectively. This initiative aims to guide participants through the complex landscape of government documents, helping them navigate the intricacies of policy interpretation. - Presentation by Masashi Okubo from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
- Insight into the budget request processes
- Information gathering methods for analyzing government policies
- Discussion on leveraging policy insights through group work: "Preparing for a hypothetical new project call from MEXT."
- Networking opportunity

  • - Day 2 (Feb 27):
- Learn about project formation processes
- Discuss how to reflect insights in university policies
- Guidelines for making proposals to governmental bodies
- Workshop closing remarks

Registration and Participation


The workshop is free of charge and open to young professionals (ages 20-40) in administrative and technical roles at universities nationwide. Space is limited to approximately 60 participants, and applications are encouraged from diverse institutions. Interested individuals should fill out the registration form by February 19, 2026, to secure a spot. Confirmation notifications will be sent by February 24.
