Promoting Career Awareness Through Job Experience Programs at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki

Building Career Awareness Through Job Experience Programs

From January 26 to 30, 2026, the Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki will host the "DOMINISTA CHALLENGE," a career experience program aimed at students from Kokoro Medical Welfare College. This initiative is organized by Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., Ltd., under the leadership of President Koji Nakamura, and aims to nurture a sense of career awareness and connection to the local area through hands-on experience in the hospitality industry.

What is the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE?

Since 2019, the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE has been implemented in hotels across the country. This program allows students to engage in various activities such as customer service at the front desk, room cleaning, and bed-making. It provides a unique opportunity for young people to learn about the workings behind the scenes of the hospitality sector and to connect with visitors to their hometown. By doing so, students can understand the significance of helping others and working collaboratively. In a globalized world with diverse cultural backgrounds, this program offers students practical learning experiences in multicultural coexistence.

To date, the program has welcomed students from over 80 schools, including 14 institutions from the Kyushu region, as part of its career education efforts to cultivate a professional outlook among participants.

Program Details

  • - Objective: To acquire necessary attitudes and knowledge essential for work while deepening thoughts about career choices.
  • - Dates: January 26 (Monday) to 30 (Friday), 2026.
  • - Experience: Activities will comprise front desk tasks (check-in/check-out processes, data entry), restaurant service (customer engagement, assisting in cooking, food service), and a tasting experience of breakfast dishes.

Comments from School Representatives

Representatives from Kokoro Medical Welfare College emphasized the importance of this program for international students. They noted that it is a significant opportunity for students to envision working in Japan, discovering their strengths and challenges. They encouraged students to be proactive, ask questions, and actively engage in their responsibilities, fostering a mindset that embraces challenges without fear of failure.

Insights from Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Management

Hiroaki Hasegawa, the manager of Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki, expressed gratitude for the students' participation in the program. As inbound tourism is on the rise, he acknowledged the vital role that international students will play in the hospitality industry. While there might be challenges due to language barriers and unfamiliar environments, he hopes that students' positive attitudes will also inspire the staff. He encourages everyone to work together to enhance the hotel experience.

Program Context and Future Outlook

In a time of increasing societal and economic uncertainty, providing students with opportunities to understand the meaning of working in Japan amid diverse cultures and values is crucial. As globalization and diversity become pressing issues in Japan's tourism sector, the growth of international students into engaged community members, who can leverage their insights and sensibilities to solve social challenges, is highly anticipated.

Through this program, Kyoritsu Maintenance aims to offer students direct experiences with Japanese business practices, a caring work ethic, and the joys of work. This initiative will not only foster job awareness among students but also strengthen connections with the local community, paving the way for a more harmonious multicultural society.
