Celebrating Women in Aviation: A Toast to Progress and Inclusion at the Annual Luncheon in Oklahoma
Honoring Women in Aviation: A Day of Celebration
On December 6, 2024, Tulsa, Oklahoma, will witness the 8th Annual Oklahoma Women in Aviation Aerospace Day. This remarkable event, organized by the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics in collaboration with Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology, aims to highlight and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in the ever-evolving aviation sector.
The aviation and aerospace industry is burgeoning within Oklahoma, now ranking as the second largest and the fastest-growing sector in the state. With a staggering contribution of $44 billion annually to the state's economy, the demand for a skilled and diverse workforce is paramount. This year's celebration, powered by key partners including the Oklahoma Air National Guard and Tulsa International Airport, will take place at the 138th Fighter Wing, a prestigious venue that underscores the significance of the occasion.
A Keynote Address on Resilience and Leadership
One of the highlights of the event will be a keynote speech by Colonel (Ret.) Nicole Malachowski, a trailblazer known as the first female pilot in the Thunderbirds Air Demonstration Squadron. Inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame, Malachowski’s commitment to resilience and leadership in the face of adversity will inspire attendees. Her story is not just a personal triumph but represents the broader achievements of women across the aviation landscape.
Emceeing the event will be Kellie Hudson, a renowned Air Boss with experience leading over 30 aerial events. Hudson's expertise in aviation operations will guide the day's agenda, ensuring a seamless flow of activities that celebrate women's accomplishments.
A Day for Diverse Voices
The luncheon promises an engaging agenda that includes not only Malachowski's address but also a dynamic panel discussion. This panel will explore the widening array of opportunities available within the aerospace field, addressing both current trends and future prospects. Importantly, it will also honor the unsung heroes of the aviation industry—mechanics and technicians who are fundamental to keeping operations running smoothly. This year’s theme invokes the iconic Rosie the Riveter with a powerful twist:
