Naoko Watanabe, who hails from Fukuoka, has nurtured a passion for climbing since childhood. In 2006, she began her journey to conquer the world's highest peaks, having successfully summited Cho Oyu at 8,201 meters. Watanabe made history in 2024 as the first Japanese woman to ascend all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks, and as a standout accomplishment, she is the first woman globally to record 30 ascents of these towering mountains. Her relentless pursuit of challenging summits serves as a symbol of overcoming limits and discovering new aspects of oneself, inspiring hope and courage in many.
