Florida Climate Week 2026: An Invitation to Engage in Environmental Awareness

Florida Climate Week (FCW) is set to take place from October 5 to October 11, 2026, presenting an incredible opportunity for Floridians to participate in over 130 free events aimed at addressing climate challenges. This year’s program marks the largest statewide initiative to date, featuring more than 95 in-person events alongside 35 virtual programs. With topics spanning a broad range of climate issues, participants will have the chance to engage with experts, local leaders, and community organizations across the state.

Community Involvement and Educational Engagement

Now in its sixth year, Florida Climate Week strives to create a space for learning and community action. Thais Lopez Vogel, Co-Founder and Trustee of the VoLo Foundation, stated, "Florida Climate Week is about giving Floridians a place to learn what is happening in their own communities, hear directly from experts, and discover practical solutions and ways to take part." The initiative invites residents to understand the immediacy of climate change by witnessing first-hand the efforts being made in their neighborhoods.

The programming spans North, Central, South, and Southwest Florida and includes a diverse array of activities—from hands-on community events to expert discussions and informative workshops. The City of Jacksonville, for example, is hosting more than 25 events that encourage resident participation in sustainability initiatives, showcasing a commitment to fostering environmental stewardship.

Florida Climate Week is coordinated in collaboration with significant partners, including the cities of Jacksonville, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale, as well as several counties such as Orange and Miami-Dade. Academic institutions also play a vital role; Florida Gulf Coast University is an Official University Partner this year, emphasizing the collective effort needed to tackle climate change.
