Beyon Expands Green Data Centre Portfolio
Beyon has recently announced a significant expansion in its commitment to sustainable technology by introducing a third green data centre, completing the fifth phase of the Beyon Solar Park. This initiative was unveiled during the Gateway Gulf 2026 event, attended by notable figures including Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, President of Beyon Group. With this development, Beyon aims to strengthen its long-term investments in renewable infrastructure and sustainable energy solutions.
The newly launched Phase 5 will encompass a careful design spanning 14,000 square meters and will feature 2,292 solar panels, amounting to a sizeable investment of approximately 544,500 Bahraini Dinars. Once operational, this phase is projected to generate around 2.5 GWh of clean energy each year. More importantly, it is set to significantly reduce carbon emissions by over 1,585 tons annually. The establishment of this third centre adds to Beyon’s growing network of eco-friendly data centres powered entirely by renewable energy.
As businesses increasingly rely on data services, cloud computing, and digital solutions, this expansion reflects Beyon’s strategic commitment to creating a resilient and high-performance digital infrastructure. The move not only aims to meet the rising demand for such services but also strives to minimize the environmental impact of its operations progressively.
Additionally, Beyon’s solar program has extended its reach beyond just data centres to include other facilities, notably completing Phase 4 this year, which integrated renewable energy at Total CX's Customer Contact Centre, marking it as Bahrain's first eco-friendly contact centre. This follows the announcement made during Gateway Gulf 2025 when Phase 3 enabled the Beyon data centre in Hamala to become fully operational on renewable energy, achieving a Tier III certification.
Beyon’s ongoing investment embodies a multi-year strategy to enhance the share of clean energy across all its operations, facilitating clients in meeting their sustainability goals and adhering to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. Andrew Kvaalseth, the CEO of Beyon Group, noted the growing significance of data centres in the digital economy, stating, “The continuous expansion of our data centres must be accompanied by a more sustainable approach to energy supply for critical infrastructure. Achieving three green data centres is a major milestone that reflects the commitment and consistency of our investments in renewable energy.”
Mohammed Almoayyed, President of Almoayyed International Group, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the ongoing partnership with Beyon. He remarked, “Our alliance with Beyon continues to showcase the potential of long-term collaboration in providing large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. Our solar park program’s successive phases exemplify a clear, sustained commitment to clean energy, and we are pleased to support Beyon as it continues its expansion across critical infrastructure.”
The collaborative efforts between Beyon and Almoayyed Solar are part of a broader, long-term agenda to boost renewable energy utilization throughout the group's infrastructure. This ongoing expansion reinforces Beyon’s staunch dedication to integrating renewable energy into its framework while contributing to Bahrain's goals for sustainability and carbon emission reduction.
