Beyon Expands Green Data Center Portfolio as Solar Investments Surge in Gateway Gulf 2026

Beyon Expands Green Data Center Portfolio

At the recent Gateway Gulf 2026, Beyon unveiled its ambitious plan to expand its green data center portfolio by adding a third facility that will be entirely powered by renewable energy. This strategic move aligns with Beyon's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, marking a significant milestone in their long-term investment in renewable energy infrastructures.

The addition of this new center comes after the completion of the fifth phase of the Beyon Solar Park, developed in collaboration with Almoayyed Solar. This phase involves a substantial investment of approximately 544,500 BD, encompassing an area of 14,000 square meters with 2,292 solar panels installed. The anticipated capacity of this installation is around 1.5 MWc, which is expected to generate about 2.5 GWh of clean energy annually. Furthermore, it aims to reduce carbon emissions by over 1,585 tons of CO₂ per year.

Beyon now operates three green data centers that harness renewable energy, reinforcing its commitment to build a sustainable digital infrastructure. As the demand for data, cloud services, and digital solutions continues to rise, this expansion is crucial in enabling Beyon to enhance its capabilities while progressively diminishing the environmental footprint of its operations.

In 2026, Beyon also successfully rolled out the fourth phase of its solar initiative beyond data centers to the Total CX customer contact center, establishing it as Bahrain’s first green contact center. This follows the pivotal development from Gateway Gulf 2025, when phase three of the solar park empowered Beyon’s Tier III certified data center in Hamala to operate fully through renewable sources.

This ongoing investment is part of a multi-year strategy aimed at increasing the share of clean energy utilized in Beyon's infrastructure, supporting clients in achieving their own sustainability objectives and meeting ESG criteria.

Andrew Kvaalseth, the CEO of Beyon, remarked, “Data centers are increasingly vital to the digital economy, and we believe that their continuous expansion should be accompanied by a sustainable approach towards powering these critical infrastructures. The operational deployment of three green data centers marks a significant step in this journey and reflects our extensive and continuous investment in renewable energies. As we continue to develop our digital infrastructure, sustainability and resilience will remain key components of our future investment strategy.”

Mohammed Almoayyed, President of Almoayyed International Group, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our partnership with Beyon continues to demonstrate the potential for long-term collaboration in delivering renewable energy infrastructure at a significant scale. The successive phases of the Solar Park program reflect a clear and consistent commitment towards clean energy, and we are pleased to support Beyon in the rollout of this program across all its critical infrastructures.”

The collaboration between Beyon and Almoayyed Solar is embedded in a long-term program designed to broaden the implementation of renewable energy across the group’s infrastructures. This ongoing expansion reinforces Beyon’s commitment to integrating renewable energies into its operations and contributing to the Kingdom of Bahrain's sustainability ambitions and carbon emission reductions.
