Beyon's Green Data Centers Expand: A Milestone for Renewable Energy Investment
Beyon Expands Green Data Center Portfolio
In a significant move towards sustainability, Beyon has announced an expansion of its green data center portfolio during the Gateway Gulf 2026 event. The company is set to add a third data center, which will be fully powered by renewable energy following the completion of Phase 5 of its solar park initiative. This milestone was unveiled in the presence of S.E. Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the chairman of Beyon Group, and it represents the latest step in Beyon's ongoing investments in sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy.
The newly planned data center, developed in partnership with Almoayyed Solar, will occupy 14,000 square meters and incorporate 2,292 solar panels capable of generating 1.5 MWp of energy. Once operational, this facility is expected to produce approximately 2.5 GWh of clean energy annually, effectively reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1,585 tons each year. This expansion not only increases Beyon's number of renewable energy-powered data centers to three but also reinforces the company’s commitment to a sustainable digital infrastructure amid rising demand for data and digital services.
As the digital economy continues to flourish, Beyon's efforts align with its ambition to cultivate a robust infrastructure while systematically decreasing the environmental impacts linked to its operations. The solar initiative has already seen significant results; in 2026, Beyon completed Phase 4, extending renewable energy use to Total CX's customer service center, making it Bahrain's first green contact center.
This latest development builds on the accomplishments shared at Gateway Gulf 2025 when Phase 3 of the solar park allowed Beyon's Tier III-certified data center in Hamala to operate entirely on renewable energy. Beyon's sustained investments reflect a multi-year program aimed at increasing clean energy's share within the organization’s infrastructure, whilst also aiding clients in their own sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) pursuits.
Andrew Kvaalseth, CEO of Beyon Group, commented, "Data centers are becoming increasingly critical to the digital economy. We believe that the continued expansion of these facilities should adhere to a more sustainable energy approach for powering essential infrastructure. Achieving three green data centers is a pivotal milestone in this journey, showcasing the scope and continuity of our renewable energy investments. As we progress with our digital infrastructure, sustainability and resilience will remain integral to our future investments."
Mohammed Almoayyed, chairman of Almoayyed International Group, emphasized the significance of their partnership by noting, "Our collaboration with Beyon continuously demonstrates the potential of long-term partnerships to create meaningful renewable energy infrastructure. The successive phases of the solar park program reflect a clear commitment to clean energy. We are proud to support Beyon in extending this initiative to its critical infrastructure."
The collaboration between Beyon and Almoayyed Solar is part of a long-term effort to broaden the use of renewable energy across the company’s infrastructure. This ongoing expansion highlights Beyon’s commitment to integrating renewable energies into its operations while supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain's sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.
