Alejandro Vallejo Appointed Chief People Officer of PG&E Corporation, Aiming for Enhanced Workplace Culture

Alejandro Vallejo Appointed Chief People Officer at PG&E

In a significant leadership change at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Alejandro "Alex" Vallejo has been named as the new Chief People Officer, effective September 30. Having dedicated 15 years to the company, Vallejo is poised to continue advocating for a workplace culture that emphasizes safety, joy, and employee satisfaction.

As the Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer, Vallejo will guide the organization's People department, which plays a crucial role in recruiting, retaining, and developing talent while fostering an environment that prioritizes employee well-being and customer satisfaction. His responsibilities will encompass talent acquisition, labor relations, coworker development, and overseeing transformative changes within the organization.

Patti Poppe, CEO of PG&E Corporation, highlighted Vallejo's empathetic leadership style and his ability to embody the culture PG&E strives to build. "Alex has been one of the most empathetic and trustworthy leaders I've had the pleasure of working with. He understands and models the culture we are working to build at PG&E—focused on safety, leading with love and causing joy for our coworkers and customers," said Poppe. Vallejo's clear commitment to promoting a positive work environment aligns perfectly with PG&E's mission to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.

Vallejo takes over the role from Kaled Awada, who recently left for other opportunities. Vallejo previously served as PG&E's Chief Risk Officer and Senior Vice President of Ethics and Compliance, where he was responsible for managing risk assessments and ensuring the company's adherence to ethical practices. His diverse background within the organization, holding various leadership roles in legal and customer teams, provides him with a well-rounded perspective on organizational challenges and employee needs.

"In my 15 years at PG&E, I have come to know, love, and deeply admire my coworkers, from our hometown service centers to our Oakland headquarters. I'm honored to continue fostering our culture, where it is enjoyable to work with and for PG&E and where we're delivering for our customers to meet the dynamic and critical energy needs of California," Vallejo expressed.

Before joining PG&E, Vallejo built a solid legal career as a litigator at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP, focusing on complex commercial litigation and regulatory matters. He is a Harvard Law School alumnus and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Riverside.

As PG&E navigates the complex landscape of energy needs across Northern and Central California, Vallejo's leadership is crucial in ensuring the workforce remains engaged, secure, and well-prepared to meet the challenges ahead. With over 16 million customers relying on PG&E's services, cultivating a dedicated and motivated workforce is essential in delivering safe and reliable energy.
