Wipfli Associates Make a Difference on 22nd Annual Community Day

On September 24, 2026, associates from Wipfli, one of the nation's leading advisory and accounting firms, rallied across the United States for the firm's 22nd annual Community Day. This special event was characterized by spirited volunteer work and generous charitable donations aimed at reinforcing local communities.

A total of 660 associates participated by partnering with 64 nonprofit organizations, contributing an impressive 2,298 hours of service. These volunteers engaged in a wide array of activities, such as packing meals, supporting food banks, and building homes. Their collective efforts addressed critical needs in the communities where Wipfli operates.

Kurt Gresens, CEO of Wipfli, noted the essence of Community Day:
“What makes Community Day special isn't the projects we complete, but the dedication our people show when investing their time, energy, and love into their local communities.”

Gresens emphasized his pride in his team’s daily impact, highlighting the unique sense of accomplishment fostered through this annual event.

For many associates, Community Day serves not only as a chance to contribute but also to witness the tangible benefits their efforts bring. Jason Smith, a partner, reflected on his team’s work at the Northern Illinois Food Bank:
“We helped provide fresh food to over 500 families in our local Rockford community. The entire experience was rewarding, and it reflects Wipfli’s commitment to making a meaningful difference.”

Associates also contributed to initiatives aimed at affordable housing and hunger relief. Dean Roder, director of alliance management, shared his experience volunteering with Habitat for Humanity:
“We built a home for a young family, which could make them the first homeowners in their family's history. The impact of Habitat extends beyond walls; it fosters vibrant communities that benefit families, schools, and local residents.”

At Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg, Illinois, Wipfli volunteers packaged an astounding 36,936 meals, sufficient to feed 101 children for a year. Rusty Planert, a senior manager at the firm, offered insights into this valuable organization:
“As an auditor, I admire how efficiently they translate our volunteer hours into significant impacts on children facing hunger. Community Day epitomizes my passion for teamwork and dedication to positive causes.”

The influence of Community Day stretches beyond just one day of volunteer activities. Through the Wipfli Foundation’s Community Support Program, associates receive charitable giving credits to donate to qualifying nonprofits of their choice. This year, the foundation expects to contribute over $106,000, enhancing support for causes that matter significantly to both associates and their communities.
