Allegiant Air Pilots Conduct Nationwide Picket for Fair Contracts and Compensation

Allegiant Air Pilots Demand Fair Contracts

On November 18, 2025, pilots working for Allegiant Air, represented by Teamsters Local 2118, held a nationwide informational picket at all 22 of their crew bases throughout the United States. This coordinated effort aimed to pressure the airline management into agreeing to a contract that recognizes the pilots' contributions and offers compensation reflecting industry standards.

The protest came amidst troubling reports of Allegiant's financial decisions, where the airline has continuously invested millions in unsuccessful resorts and entertainment projects while simultaneously advocating for concessions that could substantially undermine pilots' job security and pay. Despite pouring immense resources into these failed ventures, the leadership at Allegiant has sought to impose significant quality-of-life reductions on its pilots, including proposals that would diminish seniority rights and reduce scheduling protections. In stark contrast, this situation has left Allegiant’s pilots earning significantly less than their industry peers—up to 50% below average, according to union estimates.

Sean M. O'Brien, General President of Teamsters, expressed deep frustration over the airline's management choices, stating, "Allegiant executives have spent years throwing away money on one failed venture after another while the pilots who keep this airline flying still don't have the respect they deserve." He urged management to abandon their concessionary demands and return to negotiations with a proposal that meets industry standards, thus restoring respect and confidence to the airline.

Captain Aaron Adrian, who chairs the Strategic Preparedness Committee at Local 2118, echoed these sentiments during the picket. He declared, "Management has shown us exactly who they are—and today pilots across the nation showed them who we are. We are unified, we are prepared, and we are done waiting. The time for excuses is over. We need a fair contract now."

As a union united under Teamsters Local 2118, the 1,400 pilots took decisive action to signify their readiness to strike if needed. A resounding 97% of the pilots have voted to authorize a strike and delivered a no-confidence decision regarding the current board and company leadership. This dissatisfaction stems from the management's ongoing delays, which risk pushing experienced pilots to other airlines, threatening Allegiant's operational reliability and the essential services that the airline provides to communities across the nation.

The scenario reminds stakeholders that even as Allegiant invests in grandiose projects, they must not overlook the very individuals that contribute to the airline's daily operations—the pilots. Allegiant Air pilots are committed to negotiating a contract that values their work and ensures their financial and professional futures, a cause that remains at the heart of their ongoing fight for dignity and respect at their workplace.

As talks continue, the urgency for a resolution becomes imperative to ward off further attrition of talent and maintain a stable and reliable airline service for underserved regions that depend on Allegiant.
