This innovative challenge was focused on addressing pressing sustainability issues in communities across the Southeast and beyond. Participants showcased their creativity and technical skills in proposing ground-breaking solutions in diverse sectors including energy, agriculture, transportation, and circular economy.

Hosted at the historic Biltmore hotel, a recognized venue symbolizing Atlanta’s innovative spirit, the hackathon was held in collaboration with Atlanta Tech Week and the Georgia Cleantech Innovation Hub. The grand prize went to Stuti Thummala, a dedicated mathematics and computer science student from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her project, MaterialOps, employs AI technology to enhance waste management processes during large events, ensuring that reusable materials do not end up in landfills. Stuti expressed her enthusiasm about the hackathon, stating, "Being able to create something impactful is what drew me to participate. It's thrilling to see how we can apply technology to achieve sustainable results on a broader scale."

  • - SKIM | Energy: Led by Mustafa Zaidi and team, this project focuses on capturing knowledge from veteran technicians to enhance decision-making in energy operations.
  • - FarmFlow | Agriculture: Sagarika Sankar Ganesh from Georgia Tech developed this tool to help small farmers forecast demand and manage supply chains effectively.
  • - RetrospectIQ | Places & Spaces: This AI-driven solution, created by a team including Michael Abraham and Aaron Jones, analyzes historical data to streamline building retrofits, thereby reducing costs and emissions.
  • - Little Loop | Making Remaking: This circular economy initiative, led by Antara Vadher and her team, is aimed at repurposing garments for extended use rather than disposal.
  • - MaterialOps | Moving Things & People: Stuti Thummala’s winning project falls under this category, utilizing AI to refine event waste management.
  • - Foresight | Freekick: Created by Ian Sun and Matthew Han, this machine learning tool predicts environmental impacts related to data center siting, aiding in more transparent approval processes.
