Philip Morris International Launches Thanks for Giving Campaign to Celebrate Community Service in New York

Philip Morris International’s Commitment to Community

On November 26, 2025, Philip Morris International's U.S. businesses (PMI U.S.) unveiled the 'Thanks for Giving' campaign, aiming to invigorate charitable spirit and community engagement among New Yorkers. This initiative serves as a powerful reminder during the Thanksgiving season and #GivingTuesday, emphasizing the importance of philanthropy and recognizing the relentless efforts of both individuals and organizations striving to enhance community welfare.

Marian Salzman, the Senior Vice President at PMI U.S., previously instrumental in the inception of GivingTuesday in 2012, accentuated that philanthropy should extend beyond a singular day of goodwill. "The impact of generosity is profound when it becomes a consistent element of our lives," she expressed, underscoring that PMI U.S. has contributed over $35 million to various causes since 2022. This established culture of giving reflects not only the company’s dedication but also a significant increase in employee engagement, which has surged by 400% in community initiatives.

In its latest philanthropic efforts in 2025, PMI U.S. allocated more than $400,000 to 43 organizations across New York, prioritizing crucial areas like economic empowerment and veteran support. Noteworthy contributions included nearly $265,000 dedicated to economic initiatives and $40,000 aimed at aiding veterans and military families. The substantial support aims to facilitate organizations in fostering notable community-level transformations to uplift the lives of individuals in need.

Acknowledged Partnerships and Contributions

Entities such as the FDNY Foundation and People In Need have publicly celebrated their partnerships with PMI U.S. Matt DiLiberto, Chairman of the FDNY Foundation, remarked, "PMI U.S.'s generous $100,000 contribution strengthens the safety of all New Yorkers by enhancing our first responders' preparedness. We share a common commitment to ensuring our emergency teams are thoroughly trained to face any situation."

Similarly, Nowshin Ali, Executive Director of People In Need, expressed gratitude for the financial support that has empowered their women’s empowerment initiatives and food distribution programs, expanding the reach and impact within local communities.

Apart from esteemed organizations such as the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and the ASPCA, PMI U.S. has also highlighted its WeCare program. This initiative gives employees the unique opportunity to nominate nonprofits that could benefit from company-funded donations. In 2025 alone, the WeCare program disbursed over $1.86 million to upwards of 400 local organizations across 44 states and Washington D.C.

Long-Term Vision for a Smoke-Free America

Beyond contributions through the Thanks for Giving campaign, PMI U.S. is dedicated to fostering a smoke-free future. With a workforce of over 3,000 employees and various manufacturing facilities, including operations in Owensboro, Kentucky, and Wilson, North Carolina, PMI U.S. is committed not only to improving lives but also to ensuring responsible marketing of its offerings.

Philip Morris International’s approach to philanthropy exemplifies a pragmatic, community-oriented strategy. They actively listen to community needs, invest meaningfully, and collaborate with partners striving to create a tangible difference.
