2026 Bento and Side Dish Awards: Summit's Outstanding Selections

In an exciting announcement for food lovers across the nation, Summit has once again proven its culinary expertise by winning prestigious accolades at the 2026 Bento and Side Dish Awards. This year marks the fourth consecutive time that Summit has received honors, showcasing a stunning total of seven products amidst over 15,000 entries from various supermarkets, convenience stores, and specialty shops.

Award-Winning Highlights

The distinguished winners included a variety of dishes that exemplify quality, taste, and creativity. The grand prize for the Best Product in the Rice Bowl Category was awarded to the In-House Grilled Anago Rice Bowl, which includes hand-made tamagoyaki and asari clams. With its concept revolving around satisfying the cravings of eel enthusiasts, this dish is prepared using only soy sauce, sugar, and sake, ensuring that the freshness of the anago is retained. The final touch is an in-store grilling process that results in a crispy exterior while keeping the inside tender and fluffy. This delightful bowl is served with rice mixed with the steaming juices from the clams and features two types of clams grilled to perfection. Price: ¥698 (incl. tax: ¥753.84).

The Outstanding Award in the croquette category went to Rugged Squid Menchi. Initially introduced during the Tohoku Fair, this dish quickly gained popularity, leading to repeat purchases throughout the event. Made with large pieces of squid, along with green onions, onions, carrots, and red ginger, this seafood-based menchi-katsu has become a favorite.

Another standout is the Strawberry, Pomegranate, and Prosciutto Salad that won recognition in the salad category. Conceptualized to bring color to winter dining, this salad features vibrant red ingredients, including fresh pomegranate, strawberries, and tomatoes, paired with a balsamic vinegar dressing that glistens like jewels.

Other Noteworthy Mentions

In addition to the winners, the Cobb Salad Bowl was selected for commendation, crafted to ensure that customers can enjoy a generous serving of fresh vegetables, while also providing an excellent source of protein through the addition of boiled eggs and chicken. Made fresh in-store, it comprises 14 different ingredients, making it a healthy and delicious option for those seeking nutritious meals.

Also noteworthy is the Hokkaido Ramen Salad with Roast Pork, which captures the essence of Hokkaido's culinary heritage. Accompanied by a generous portion of fresh vegetables and homemade roasted pork slices, this dish is dressed in Summit’s signature sesame dressing, perfect for those looking for a substantial yet light meal.

For those looking for unique experiences, Summit introduced the Seasonal Tempura Bowl, featuring cod milt and oysters, elaborately developed to offer affordable luxury with a crisp, freshly fried batter.

Finally, the Angus Black Beef Sukiyaki and Dashimaki Nori Bento presents a bountiful feast, showcasing the beloved dashimaki and their flavorful beef sukiyaki, all nestled generously into nori to satisfy hearty appetites.
