Tokyo Launches Innovative Carbon Dioxide Removal Credit Projects
Tokyo's Carbon Dioxide Removal Credit Initiative
Tokyo is taking a significant step towards addressing climate change through its newly launched Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Credit Creation Promotion Project. This initiative aims to work closely with businesses to harness the city’s natural resources and cutting-edge technologies to absorb and eliminate CO₂ from the atmosphere. The primary focus is to create carbon credits, which can be traded to support sustainable practices.
In a recent announcement, Tokyo has identified several companies that will collaborate on this transformative project, set to run through December 2028. The selected businesses are poised to implement various demonstration projects that not only contribute to carbon credit creation but also promote sustainable agricultural practices and decarbonization efforts among Tokyo-based enterprises.
