National Road Safety Foundation Invites Teens to Submit Safety Video Ideas for Drive2Life Contest

Drive2Life PSA Contest Inviting Teen Innovators

The National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) has launched its 16th annual Drive2Life PSA Contest, providing a platform for teenagers across the nation to submit their creative ideas for a public service announcement focused on safe road-sharing practices. The contest encourages youth to think critically about how various vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, and pedestrians share the road and their mutual right to safe travel.

This year's contest opens on January 20, 2025, and all entries must be submitted by March 21, 2025. Participants will have the chance to win a $2,000 cash prize and an all-expense-paid trip to New York City. The winner will collaborate with an Emmy Award-winning producer to turn their creative concept into a PSA that will air on over 170 television stations as a part of the nationally syndicated program Teen Kids News, which will broadcast during Global Youth Traffic Safety Month in May.

Additionally, two runners-up will each receive a $500 cash prize, and both the winning teacher and the teachers of the runners-up will be awarded $100 gift cards. The entries will be evaluated by a panel that includes staff from NRSF and expert teachers from the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA).

In collaboration with ADTSEA, NRSF is also developing a comprehensive teaching program designed for classroom use. This program is geared towards aligning with language arts, health, media, and communication lessons, making it easy for school clubs to incorporate safe driving messages into their activities.

Michelle Anderson from NRSF stated, "Drivers share the road with various vehicles and pedestrians, and they all deserve to travel safely. We hope that the creative insights from young people will influence safe driving practices.” This sentiment underscores the importance of innovative communication for traffic safety, especially among youth who are at the forefront of future driving generations.

The official entry form, detailed prize information, and a showcase of previous winning entries are accessible on the NRSF website. This resource includes free curriculum materials for teachers and parents to engage effectively with teens regarding road safety awareness.

NRSF has a rich history of more than 60 years in developing driver education programs focused on various critical aspects of road safety, including distracted driving, speed and aggression, impaired driving, and the risks of drowsy driving. Alongside its educational initiatives, NRSF sponsors various national contests for teens, partnering with organizations like SADD and FCCLA, and regional competitions at prominent auto shows in Chicago and Detroit.

Through its various programs, NRSF remains committed to fostering a culture of safety on the roads by empowering young voices to advocate for responsible driving. Visit NRSF's website to learn more about their initiatives and how you could be involved in making the roads safer for everyone.
