Celebrating Earth Day 2025: Angel Yeast's Commitment to Zero Carbon Production

Celebrating Earth Day 2025 with Angel Yeast

April 22, 2025, marked the 56th Earth Day, under the theme "OUR POWER, OUR PLANET." This year's Earth Day theme calls for a united approach among global citizens to support renewable energy and aims to triple the production of clean electricity globally by 2030. Angel Yeast, a prominent player in the yeast production industry, has taken a significant step towards fulfilling this call by establishing its first zero-carbon factory, Angel Yeast Dehong, which has been awarded a Class I three-star certification by the Chinese Quality Certification Centre.

Setting New Standards in Green Production

The zero-carbon factory represents an advanced eco-friendly facility designed to minimize greenhouse gas emissions through energy-saving technologies and the use of renewable energy sources. Angel Yeast's ambitious target is to achieve a minimal carbon footprint, compensating for remaining emissions through carbon neutrality projects that aim for maximum reduction of environmental impact.

Achieving the Class I three-star certification requires strict adherence to standards based on direct and indirect emissions. The factory must maintain a self-reduction rate of over 50% for its residual emissions, highlighting their commitment to sustainability. Utilizing strategies such as photovoltaic energy production, bioenergy substitution, and comprehensive carbon accounting, Angel Yeast Dehong sets a new benchmark for ecological practices within the company and the industry.

Energy Clean Revolution

Following their sustainability strategy, Angel Yeast made significant strides in 2024 by reducing their carbon emissions by 210,500 tons. This was accomplished through the utilization of 129,673 MWh of green electricity, which alone contributed to a substantial reduction of 72,200 tons of emissions. The firm is deeply involved in the installation of solar power plants and promotes the substitution of coal with biomass for energy production, leading to further reductions in carbon output.

In 2024, Angel Yeast engaged in producing 176.7 MWh of electricity from solar sources and purchased 122,800 tons of biomass steam—these initiatives collectively reduced their CO2 emissions by 37,500 tons. In addition, by launching biomass substitution projects across different regions, the company leveraged 33,600 tons of biofuels, resulting in a further decrease of 40,900 tons in carbon emissions.

The subsidiaries of Angel Yeast are also adopting biogas recovery technologies that transform biogas into steam for their production processes. By recovering 28.26 million cubic meters of biogas in 2024, they replaced coal steam consumption and cut back carbon emissions by an impressive 59,900 tons.

Ongoing Commitment to Sustainability

Angel Yeast continues to encourage partnerships around the world to accelerate the transition to clean energy and foster environmental innovation. The company emphasizes the construction of additional zero-carbon facilities, advancement in green technology, enhancement of energy efficiency, and further emission reductions as part of its ongoing sustainability efforts.

Wu Xiaofeng, Assistant General Manager and Head of Production Management at Angel Yeast, expressed that "energy efficiency, emission reduction, and green production are core pillars of our growth strategy. Through innovation, we have established a comprehensive carbon emission reduction framework that incorporates product design, greenhouse gas reduction, and carbon offset measures. We strive to make our production processes environmentally friendly with state-of-the-art energy-saving equipment and eco-friendly technologies to minimize emissions across all operations."

As companies worldwide acknowledge their responsibility in combating climate change, Angel Yeast is leading by example with its commitment to sustainable developments and practices. They invite global partners to join them in this important journey towards a greener future.
