New Urban Experience through Art: Arthouse Project Launches with Unique Exhibition at Hilton Kyoto
Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. has recently announced the inception of an ambitious initiative called the Arthouse Project. This creative endeavor aims to redefine the value of art within urban spaces by collaborating with diverse players in the industry. The inaugural event of this project is set to unfold at the newly developed Hilton Kyoto, opening its doors in September 2024. From November 13 to November 16, this venue will host a special exhibition featuring the innovative works of artist Minami Ikki, titled “Algorithm and Spirit.”
The focus of the Arthouse Project lies in harnessing art's transformative power to refine urban environments. Tokyo Tatemono has a history of supporting artistic initiatives, including the operation of the BAG-Brillia Art Gallery and the Brillia Art Award, aimed at recognizing emerging talents. The company believes that by collaborating with various stakeholders—including businesses, brands, educational institutions, and international conferences—they can maximize interaction between artists and society while discovering new values for art in urban spaces.
The Hilton Kyoto, as the first flagship hotel of Hilton Hotels & Resorts in the city, is set to become a focal point for such artistic engagements. The lobby, designed with a thematic focus on “ORIMONO” (woven textiles) by Hashimoto Yuki Design Studio, will be enriched by Ikki's algorithmically-inspired paintings. This collaboration aims to enhance the experience of hotel guests and visitors who are interested in culture and art, ultimately elevating the overall value of experiencing Kyoto. In addition to viewing the artworks, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase pieces directly from the exhibition.
