Dialogue In The Dark Launches Limited Program 'Hiroshima 1945' with Special Events

Dialogue In The Dark Launches 'Hiroshima 1945'

The Dialogue Japan Society, based in Minato, Tokyo, is thrilled to announce the commencement of ticket sales for their limited-time program, "Hiroshima 1945." Part of the ongoing "PEACE IN THE DARK 2026" series at the Dialogue Diversity Museum in Takeshiba, Tokyo, this program will run from August 1 to August 30, 2026.

"PEACE IN THE DARK" is an innovative social entertainment initiative that invites participants to explore the challenges of the past while fostering dialogue in a unique setting—the complete darkness of the museum. Last year, over 2,700 individuals participated in the inaugural experience held in both Hiroshima and Tokyo, marking the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing.

During the experience, visitors embody the roles of individuals who lived through the summer of 1945 in Hiroshima. They will reflect on the lives, emotions, and stories of those who endured that fateful time while navigating the dark spaces of the museum. This unique approach encourages participants to engage with ideas of past, present, and future, creating a bridge of understanding between generations.

For the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing on August 6, a special talk event titled "A Woman of Love, Courage, and Action: Shigeko" will feature author Seiko Suga discussing her book, "Shigeko! Crossing the Sea from Hiroshima," alongside the society's director, Kiyoe Shimura. This event aims to examine the memories of war and the atomic bomb not as distant echoes, but as pressing inquiries for contemporary society.

A day later, August 7, will see a screening of the documentary film "Walking with Soul" about 24-year-old Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassouna, followed by a talk event led by Kenji Sekine, head of United People, the film's distributor. This conversation will center on the narrative's background and the importance of sharing it at this timely juncture in history.
