North American Copper in Architecture Awards 2026
The Copper Development Association (CDA) has launched the call for entries for the 2026 North American Copper in Architecture Awards (NACIA). As a not-for-profit organization representing the global copper industry based in the United States, CDA has been celebrating excellence in copper design since 2008.
These prestigious awards recognize outstanding projects utilizing copper and its alloys in both commercial and residential architecture throughout the United States and Canada. With a focus on creativity and craftsmanship, the competition invites architects, designers, and contractors to showcase their most innovative work featuring architectural copper elements.
Eligibility and Submission Guidelines
Entries for the 2026 NACIA Awards are open until
March 27, 2026. All projects must be completed within the past three years and can belong to various categories, including restoration or renovation, new construction, and custom fabrication. It is essential that submitted works incorporate elements made from copper, brass, or bronze and are situated within the geographical boundaries of the U.S. or Canada.
Recent Award-Winning Projects
Last year's winners included an impressive roster of buildings such as the Magic Chef Mansion in St. Louis and the Hillsdale County Courthouse in Michigan, each exemplifying stunning architectural applications of copper. Their designs not only highlight the visual appeal of copper but also focus on sustainability and innovation in architecture.
How to Enter
The submission process is user-friendly and accessible at
Copper Architecture Awards Entry Form. Notably, there is no entry fee. Participants are encouraged to provide a brief project description and high-resolution images showcasing their work. They must also explain why copper was chosen for that specific project and discuss any contributions copper made towards green building certification, if applicable.
Projects will be evaluated based on several criteria: the design of the copper system, its integration with the overall building design, the quality of installation, and adherence to sustainable building practices. A panel of experts will judge the entries, ensuring that each submission is measured against strict standards of excellence.
Awards and Recognition
Winning projects will receive a commemorative award and will be highlighted in various architectural and construction publications. Moreover, the awardees will enjoy significant visibility through CDA’s outreach initiatives, extending their recognition to peers and potential clients alike.
Larry Peters, Project Manager at CDA, expressed his enthusiasm for the awards, stating, “The durability, versatility, and beauty of copper continue to elevate its status as a premium material in architecture. We encourage all architects and designers to show what they can achieve with copper in their projects.”
