World Holdings Holds 36th 'Kids Open Day'
On July 25, 2025, World Holdings organized its 36th annual 'Kids Open Day' in Tokyo at the North Aoyama building and on August 8 in Kobe at the company's headquarters. This event, introduced in 1991 based on employee suggestions to provide children an opportunity to see their working parents, has welcomed a total of 892 families, accommodating 12,620 children to date.
The 'Kids Open Day' aims to enhance children's understanding and interest in the workplace by familiarizing them with their parents' roles. This year, a total of 68 elementary school children from 51 families participated in the event, which included not only a company tour but also workshops on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and sessions focused on creative activities involving generative AI.
Through this event, World Holdings aspires to nurture new creativity and encourage reflections on the future of work and contributions to a sustainable society. The day kicked off with an explanation of the various businesses under World Holdings, particularly its efforts in clothing recycling and sustainable fashion.
During the event, children engaged in three special programs that highlighted individuality and creativity. For example, in the photography studio, participants not only learned about online store operations but also got to experience being models during a photo shoot. Additionally, a workshop involved creating 'Thank You Flowers' using leftover fabric and non-woven materials from the apparel manufacturing process. A new program this year, 'Challenge with Generative AI,' provided children the opportunity to create prompts based on their favorite colors, characters, and styles, allowing them to design and style their own outfits.
The children also had the unique experience of visiting their parents’ desks, which offered them a firsthand look into the workplace and the chance to discover different facets of their parents beyond their roles at home. They were able to learn more about their parents’ work and the various responsibilities within the company, fostering deeper understanding. Each visit was marked with memorable photo opportunities in the office setting.
During lunchtime, parents and children enjoyed shared moments, reinforcing family bonds inside the professional environment. Participants expressed their enthusiasm, with children stating, "Using generative AI for design was really fun; I definitely want to participate next year!" Another highlighted the impressive commitment to environmental issues echoed through the clothing manufacturing processes. Parents echoed these sentiments, realizing how such experiences made their children understand work better, leading to broader future career choices.
Nobutaka Suzuki, President and CEO of World Holdings, commented, "I hope the children learned about what we do at World. Understanding how clothes are made can be a foundation for future job considerations as they grow up. I hope they will share these memories and experiences at home, making this summer vacation unforgettable for them. Thank you all for joining us—you're now part of the World family!" The event was not only a family affair but also a significant engagement fostering community among all participants.
