Borderless Visit: A Fresh Take on Cultural Exchange in Your Home
Borderless House, a company dedicated to multicultural coexistence, is excited to introduce its new brand,
Borderless Visit, set to launch in December 2025 following a successful experience with the home visit project previously managed by
NAGOMI VISIT. Renowned for its commitment to international exchange and cultural understanding, Borderless House aims to create enriching experiences for both homeowners and global travelers by inviting them into their homes for meal-sharing and conversation.
A Legacy of Connection and Trust
Over 14 years, NAGOMI VISIT has facilitated more than 5,000 home visits, establishing a proven track record in fostering connections across cultures. With Borderless Visit, Borderless House will leverage this wealth of experience and its international network spanning over 124 countries to bring even more hosts and international guests together for genuine interactions that transcend cultural boundaries.
What is Borderless Visit?
Borderless Visit is a home visit service designed to invite international travelers and foreign residents in Japan into your home for 2-3 hours of cultural exchange around a meal. This unique opportunity provides guests with a taste of genuine Japanese home-cooked meals and a chance to immerse themselves in the local lifestyle, offering a traditional yet intimate setting for cross-cultural dialogue. Unlike ordinary homestays that may feel overwhelming, this program emphasizes casual exchanges, allowing hosts to easily engage in international outreach simply by sharing a meal.
By connecting on a human level rather than as 'foreigners' and 'hosts,' participants break down psychological barriers, fostering an open and welcoming community. It encourages families to broaden their horizons, offering children unique learning experiences and creating connections that are typically unattainable in daily life.
Why Now?
Amidst a growing sense of division in society and challenges related to overtourism and rising xenophobia, Borderless House sees an urgent need for initiatives like this one. The transition of the home visit project from NAGOMI VISIT to Borderless House in September 2025 will allow the retention of established trust with hosts while utilizing the extensive network of Borderless House to better facilitate intercultural encounters and move towards a more multicultural society.

Insights from Co-President Megumi Kusunoki
Megumi Kusunoki, co-president of Borderless Visit, emphasizes that the essence of this initiative lies in creating spaces where both travelers and local residents can meet as equals. Sharing a meal fosters genuine connections that can dissolve preconceived barriers, allowing foreigners to feel more at home and connected to their surroundings. Over the years, many people who have met through this program have maintained friendships, showcasing the program's significant value.
With Borderless Visit, we aim to foster even more opportunities for people to connect beyond their differences. By welcoming travelers into your everyday life, you can help broaden their perspectives and contribute to a kinder, more open world. Join us in making a difference!
