On October 7, 2025, the Board of Trustees at Golden Gate University (GGU) announced a pivotal leadership change with the appointment of Brent White as the university's 8th president. Brent White's extensive experience in higher education and global engagement positions him uniquely to steer GGU into a new era beginning November 1, 2025.
Brent White arrives at GGU from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, where he has served as Chief Global Officer and Professor of Law at the William S. Richardson School of Law. In his current role, he has been instrumental in fostering global collaborations and enhancing the university's international reputation. Before joining the University of Hawai'i, he was Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at GGU, where he played a critical role in launching innovative programs and partnerships that significantly broadened the university's reach and student base.
Previously, Brent held the position of Vice President for Global Affairs and Dean of Global Education at the University of Arizona. His leadership contributed to the institution's transformation into a global academic powerhouse, establishing 13 micro-campuses across nine countries. Brent White's academic qualifications include a J.D., magna cum laude, from New York University School of Law, and an A.B., magna cum laude, in Public Policy from Duke University.
