SHEIN's 2025 Survey Unveils Back-to-School Trends for Modern Families

SHEIN's 2025 Back-to-School Survey Insights

The global fashion retailer SHEIN has released exciting insights from its 2025 Back-to-School Survey, revealing how U.S. families approach style and shopping priorities for the upcoming school year. With 22,000 participants sharing their thoughts, the survey captures a snapshot of evolving trends, especially among Gen Z and Millennial families.

As students gear up for the new academic year, fashion has increasingly become a means of self-expression. The survey identifies key motivators driving back-to-school shopping: 57% of respondents prioritize finding outfits that reflect their personal style. Additionally, 54% of students value the feeling of a fresh start, while 51% appreciate the satisfaction that comes with getting organized for a new school year. An impressive 80% indicated that making a fashion statement on the first day of school is important, with nearly 40% feeling that a new outfit enhances their confidence and sets a positive tone for the rest of the year.

Among the trends outlined in the survey, certain clothing items stood out as must-haves:
1. Trendy Tops and T-Shirts (73%): Students are particularly drawn to tops that allow them to express their unique fashion sense.
2. Accessories (58%): Items such as jewelry and caps are rising in popularity as essential additions to back-to-school wardrobes.
3. Statement Jeans and Pants (57%): Beyond just tops, students are also investing in bold and stylish denim pieces.

Contrary to conventional shopping lists, today's families are adopting a more flexible and collaborative approach to back-to-school shopping. The dynamic allows children to choose items that resonate with their authentic selves, while parents remain mindful of deals and emerging trends. "Because we listen to customers in real time, SHEIN has a front-row seat to what's shaping culture," states Lisa Zlotnick, U.S. head of brand PR for SHEIN U.S. She emphasizes that this survey encapsulates the shifting landscape of back-to-school shopping, moving away from merely stocking up on basics toward curating eye-catching looks that inspire confidence and creativity.

SHEIN aims to cater to these evolving tastes by providing a comprehensive range of products. From fashionable apparel, footwear, and accessories to essential dorm supplies and school-ready items, SHEIN is positioned as a one-stop destination for families gearing up for the new school year.
