The much-anticipated
GQ JAPAN Creative Weekend took place on July 5th and 6th, 2025, at the
Ginza Sony Park, celebrating the works of this year's recipients of the prestigious 'GQ Creativity Awards.' The event not only showcased innovative art but also featured engaging talk sessions led by award-winning artists, creating an immersive experience for visitors.
Celebrating creative brilliance, the weekend kicked off with a preview event on July 4th that brought together notable artists such as
Motoki Omori from
Mrs. GREEN APPLE, the artistic duo
GILLOCHINDOX☆GILLOCHINDAE, and the architectural collective known as
GROUP. This preview allowed attendees to get a glimpse of the unique artistic expressions that would be on display and participate in insightful discussions about creativity.
During the opening talk session, Motoki Omori engaged in an inspiring dialogue with
Jun Ishida, the Head of Editorial Content for GQ JAPAN, and
Keita Takada, the Managing Editor. The conversation delved into various aspects of creation, from the circumstances that prompted Omori to pursue photography to his thoughts on the themes encapsulated in his exhibited works. With a focus on the phrase "whether I am present or not," Omori shared his insights on the emotional impact of capturing moments and experiences through a lens, emphasizing the significance of expression and reflection in art.
Attendees were treated to an array of stunning artworks throughout the weekend. Motoki Omori's series, titled "Boku ga Iyou ga Imaima ga" (In My Presence or Not), featured photographs that explore the deep emotional landscapes of human experience. Additionally,
GILLOCHINDOX☆GILLOCHINDAE displayed a monumental painting titled "Gironika," addressing the complex themes of war and disaster through a visually arresting narrative.
As the weekend progressed, more engaging talks ensued, including a session featuring
Asako Fujikura, another award-winning artist, alongside GILLOCHINDOX☆GILLOCHINDAE, and popular TikTok creator known for making art more accessible. They discussed how social media influences contemporary art and how platforms like TikTok are reshaping the art community.
On July 6th, another insightful session took place, featuring poet
Suganoya Toshi and
Anne Caroline Parazan, the Head of Art Culture and Heritage at
