Exciting New Yakitori and Sake Boutique 'Furin'
On February 11, 2026, Ikebukuro will gain a new culinary gem called 'Yakitori to Sake Furin,' situated in a restored traditional house on Sakai-machi street. This vibrant, nostalgic area of Toshima-ku has retained its charm since the post-war era, making it the perfect spot for this new venture.
Furin aims to bring the flavors of Tohoku to the city, specializing in yakitori made with high-quality ingredients and authentic binchotan charcoal grilling techniques. The establishment will have a grand opening after a series of practice sessions, which began in November 2025. By mid-January 2026, the skilled grillers will have perfected their craft, having prepared over 10,000 skewers in the process.
Special Pre-Opening Offer
To celebrate the upcoming launch, Furin will offer an amazing deal: every skewer will be available for just 100 yen (including tax) until February 10, 2026. This limited-time promotion promises to attract yakitori enthusiasts and curious foodies alike.
Dining Experience
The layout of the restaurant will feature a cozy and intimate setting with a counter that accommodates 9 diners and 16 additional table seats, perfect for groups of up to four. On the menu, guests can indulge in a variety of delicious items, including:
- - Skewers of seasonal vegetables
- - Rich liver pâté
- - Tender chicken meatballs (tsukune)
- - Flavorful chicken simmered in salt broth
To top off the meal, Furin will serve a specialty oyakodon made with fresh eggs, ensuring each visit ends on a delightful note.
Furin's commitment to quality extends beyond just the menu. The restaurant's head chef will personally oversee every step from ingredient procurement to preparation. Sourcing local Tohoku chicken varieties like Abe chicken and Shinrin chicken, the yakitori will be meticulously grilled to perfection. Each skewer is crafted by hand, and the cooking process will consider the varying properties of the charcoal used, resulting in juicy and flavorful skewers with a crispy exterior.
Seasonal Delights
During the winter season, Furin will also offer an exclusive hot pot dish made with house-made broth, emphasizing the restaurant's dedication to seasonal ingredients. Rare cuts of meat will also be included in the 100-yen skewer deal, inviting adventurous eaters to try something unique.
