High School Students from California Visit Japan to Foster Cultural Understanding

Enhancing International Understanding Through Cultural Exchange

This February, a group of nine high school students from West High School in Torrance, California, will embark on a journey to Japan. Their itinerary includes visits to vibrant Tokyo and the culturally rich Okinawa Prefecture, designed to deepen their understanding of Japanese society and culture.

Upon their arrival in Japan, students will begin their program with an orientation session, followed by several insightful visits to prominent locations across Tokyo. They will explore the Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) to learn about the pioneering advancements in Japanese science and technology. Another highlight will be a visit to the Akasaka Palace, an exquisite symbol of Japan's governmental heritage, providing students with a glimpse into the nation’s diplomatic history.

Additionally, they will tour the Fukagawa Edo Museum, which showcases the historical lives and customs of Edo-period Tokyo. This excursion aims to instill a sense of connection with the rich tapestry of Japan's past. Finally, the students will conclude their Tokyo adventure with a visit to Tokyo Big Sight, where they will engage in a workshop and a presentation session, sharing their experiences and newfound insights with their peers.
