Kappa Sushi Hosts Local Job Seminar for Students
On November 6, 2025, Kappa Sushi, part of the Colowide Group, conducted a job seminar at Nakano Hirai Junior High School in Nakano City, Nagano Prefecture—the birthplace of Kappa Sushi. This initiative aims to connect with local communities and support education, helping the younger generation understand the joys and challenges of working in the restaurant industry.
Approximately 26 students participated in the seminar, where they learned about Kappa Sushi's history, its ties to Nagano, and the fundamental operations of running a restaurant. The event provided a comprehensive introduction to the restaurant's unique processes, incorporating photos and stories to illustrate the behind-the-scenes aspects of dining service.
One of the highlights of the seminar was the interactive role-playing sessions where students experienced both customer service and kitchen duties. They practiced greetings and learned about the company's motto—“The joy of our customers is our joy”—which underscored the importance of hospitality in the service industry. This hands-on experience allowed students to grasp the satisfaction derived from work as they navigated various scenarios, demonstrating the effort and creativity required in the hospitality sector.
Seminar Activities
The seminar comprised several key components:
1.
Introduction to Kappa Sushi: The students learned about the origins of Kappa Sushi and the unique story behind its name. They were amazed by the innovative sushi serving method from its inception when sushi was delivered via water channels and excited to hear about the popularity of the 'Salad Gunkan,' a local favorite.
2.
Understanding Job Roles: Participants were educated about various roles within the restaurant. The teaching emphasized not only the responsibilities that come with these jobs but also the fulfillment that arises from teamwork and customer interaction.
3.
Hands-On Experience: The role-playing allowed students to enact different tasks, reinforcing the skills required for customer service and cooking. They practiced basic greetings and engaged in mock kitchen scenarios, thereby understanding the nuances of restaurant operations.
Student Feedback
Feedback from the students revealed a positive outcome from the workshop. Comments highlighted their newfound understanding of job roles and the cooperative spirit necessary in any workplace:
- - “I realized working can bring smiles to people and make a difference in their lives.”
