Pollo Campero Introduces Its Unique Flavors to New York City's Penn Station

Pollo Campero Expands Its Reach in New York City

Pollo Campero, the renowned Guatemalan fast-casual restaurant, has celebrated a significant milestone by opening its 122nd restaurant in the U.S. Located in the bustling Penn Station, this new establishment marks the sixth Pollo Campero location to grace Manhattan. This expansion comes on the heels of achieving their landmark 100th restaurant and aims to reach over 125 locations by the end of 2024.

The new restaurant, situated within the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) concourse, has been designed to cater to the needs of commuters. It features modern conveniences such as a mobile order pickup station, equipped with secure lockers accessible through personalized codes, along with self-service kiosks and a stylish decor that enhances the dining experience.

José Gregorio Baquero, the Global CEO of CMI Foods, emphasized the importance of this opening, stating, "Every achievement and milestone reached in our expansion plan, both in Manhattan and other markets, allows us to uphold and expand the family legacy of CMI — a legacy that transcends generations and was born from our founder, Don Juan Bautista Gutiérrez." He highlighted the significance of showcasing Pollo Campero's unique flavors in such a historic location as Penn Station.

The menu at the new location offers a mouthwatering array of options, including the famous fried and grilled chicken made from family recipes that have been passed down through generations. Patrons can indulge in chicken sandwiches, empanadas, salads, bowls, and unique sides like sweet plantains and yuca fries. To cater to all dining preferences, Pollo Campero also provides individual meals, family packages, and catering options.

Luis Javier Rodas, the Managing Director of Pollo Campero USA, remarked, "We continue to grow and bring our signature flavors closer to thousands of loyal customers who love the brand and do so in a way that meets them where they are." He further stated that the new restaurant allows them to share their passion for Pollo Campero's renowned offerings and plans for continued expansion across the U.S. in the coming year.

With a clear goal of expanding to 250 locations by 2027, Pollo Campero is a leading brand under CMI, having served over 80 million customers annually over its 53 years of operation. Founded in Guatemala in 1971, the restaurant began its journey in El Salvador soon after. Since then, the brand has expanded its presence to other countries, including the U.S., Mexico, Honduras, and Ecuador, becoming a key player in the fast-food industry.

Pollo Campero not only focuses on its culinary success but also emphasizes social responsibility. The company supports various projects that aim to create a positive impact on communities, including initiatives that have aided children with cancer in Guatemala and El Salvador for over 23 years. Additionally, its Campero Institute has been providing educational opportunities to its employees for three decades.

With over 8,000 employees and more than 350 restaurants worldwide, Pollo Campero is committed to delivering exceptional flavors and experiences that resonate with families. The opening at Penn Station is not just a food outlet; it’s a continuation of a rich legacy that has become a staple in the Latin American community and a tribute to its heritage.
