Revamping the Future of Management Education: The Master Course by JMA

The Japan Marketing Association (JMA), based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, will begin its 32nd edition of the Marketing Master Course in September 2025. This long-term training program is designed for marketers who are pivotal within their organizations, aiming to cultivate the next generation of marketing leaders equipped with both business perspectives and practical execution skills. The revamped 32nd edition introduces new themes such as BtoB Marketing, AI in Marketing, and Sustainability Strategies, all founded on over 30 years of established practices. Participants will benefit from lectures by top industry professionals, a curriculum focused on hands-on exercises, and a network that continues beyond graduation, providing a learning environment that adapts to changing times.

Why is the Master Course Evolving Now?

JMA’s Master Course has successfully developed leaders in marketing for over three decades. While its core essence remains intact, significant revisions have been made for the 32nd edition to align with transformations in society and business. Key drivers for these changes include the increasing importance of sustainability in management, the advancement of digital and AI technologies, and the growing emphasis on human capital management. As these structural changes evolve, marketers are expected to possess both a strategic viewpoint and the ability to execute effectively like never before. In response to these needs, the JMA is restructuring its curriculum starting in 2025 to incorporate realistic, high-impact themes such as BtoB Marketing, AI x Marketing, Sustainability Strategies, and Leadership & Project Management.

Focus on Practical Learning

The new curriculum framework emphasizes not just theoretical knowledge but the fundamental development of practical skills. Through small group work, real case studies, and discussions with active C-suite executives and CMOs, students will rigorously engage with their ability to experiment and make decisions effectively.

The instructor lineup includes prominent figures such as Yukiko Yamaguchi from Panasonic Connect, Koichiro Shima from Hakuhodo Kettle, Atsushi Koizumi from Kao, and Junzo Ishii from Kobe University, alongside various frontline players such as CMO's, brand responsibilities, corporate planners, and academic researchers. The lectures and exercises focus on real-world topics like corporate transformation, new business ventures, and global expansions, providing a platform where knowledge and experience circulate directly among industry leaders.

Merely sitting in a classroom will not yield the truly beneficial insights that marketers need. The Master Course has consistently been a 'growth arena' since its inception, fostering breakthroughs for many marketers over 30 years.

A Lasting Network for Continued Learning

Participants of the Master Course come from various backgrounds, including major corporations, startups, and businesses across manufacturing and services. Here, they cultivate relationships that enable them to dialogue, refine their skills, and occasionally co-create beyond the confines of their organizations or industries.

The connections formed persist after graduation through the 'Alumni Network,' offering invaluable opportunities to share challenges and knowledge. The community of over 1,700 alumni from both western and eastern course graduates serves as a supportive peer group in a rapidly changing era—a future asset for their continued professional journey.
