MediCapture Unveils aiScope™ for Veterinary Sciences at VMX 2026
MediCapture Inc., a renowned leader in the medical imaging arena, has officially launched its new software,
aiScope™, designed to revolutionize veterinary sciences through advanced imaging technology. The official unveiling took place at the VMX 2026 conference in Orlando, Florida, on January 17, demonstrating a leap forward in how veterinary professionals can integrate artificial intelligence into their practice.
A Novel Approach to Veterinary Imaging
The aiScope™ operates by deploying Vision AI models in a real-time environment directly on MediCapture's medical imaging systems, specifically the MTRs and selected MVR devices. Its unique design eliminates the need for external computers or complex proprietary systems, making it especially effective in both clinical settings and field applications. This innovation was spearheaded to address the ongoing challenges faced in integrating advanced AI models into everyday veterinary practices.
According to Bernd Jotzat, Senior Product Manager at MediCapture, “By embedding AI Vision at the point of care, aiScope™ effectively tackles the persistent 'last-mile problem' that has made it difficult to utilize numerous research AI models in real-world clinical environments.” This assertion underscores the significance of the software in bridging the gap between research and practical application.
Powering Real-Time Analytics
One of the exceptional features of aiScope™ is its robust data collection engine, which empowers surgical cameras to capture and analyze vision data seamlessly. Equipped with custom models, the software can classify and detect objects in real time, generating bounding boxes and labels for images. Future updates promise enhanced functionalities like auto-annotation, significantly decreasing the time required for manual reviews and labeling.
The system is vendor-neutral, operating with various MTR and MVR devices and providing compatibility with open-source models. This allows it to run Vision AI applications across diverse imaging platforms, including endoscopic and microscopic systems, ensuring it meets a wide range of veterinary needs.
Pilot Deployment Begins
The aiScope™ pilot program is set to launch at two prominent veterinary expos: VetExpo Europe in Leipzig, Germany on January 15, followed by its showing at VMX 2026. This pilot program will last through spring 2026, with plans to extend into data collection initiatives for veterinary schools and research centers in the latter part of the year.
MediCapture's President and CEO, Michael Bishop, elaborated on the rationale behind starting the pilot in veterinary medicine, stating, “With over 65,000 species of vertebrates under veterinary care, there’s immense potential for impactful discoveries and accelerated scientific research. aiScope™ is portable, bringing groundbreaking AI imaging to every corner of the world.”
Impressive Portability and Efficiency
Designed with mobility in mind, the MTR systems integrated with aiScope™ can fit into compact cases, resembling carry-on luggage. Operating on less than 20 watts, these systems can sustain the aiScope™ functionalities for over eight hours on a standard power bank, making them ideal for on-the-go veterinary practices. The upcoming demonstrations at VMX 2026 will showcase the aiScope™ in action on the VUEES™ Mobility platform, emphasizing its ease of transport and efficiency.
Future Market Availability
MediCapture anticipates that aiScope™ will be available for university pilot participants by March 2026, with broader commercial availability expected as summer approaches. This strategic rollout aligns with the growing interest in AI integration within healthcare, particularly in veterinary fields.
MediCapture's commitment to facilitating comprehensive and accessible veterinary care is evident through its innovative solutions. As the company continues to expand its capabilities, aiScope™ stands out as a significant advancement that promises to enhance both education and practical applications in veterinary medicine.
