Unlocking Team Potential with FFS Theory: Highlights from the HR Library Workshop

Unlocking Team Potential with FFS Theory

On October 25, 2025, Trustyyle, based in Chuo, Tokyo, organized an engaging hands-on workshop titled ‘Enhancing Organizational Performance through Individual Traits—Utilizing FFS Theory to Transform Diversity into Strengths.’ Held at the HR Library, this event aimed to explore how understanding unique team dynamics and personal traits can significantly foster organizational growth.

Background and Objectives

In today’s fast-paced business environment, companies face the challenge of harnessing diverse individual strengths for sustained growth. Many organizations often struggle with how to effectively manage team members' characteristics, relying heavily on subjective experiences rather than data-driven analysis. This is where FFS (Five Factors & Stress) Theory comes into play.

FFS Theory focuses on visualizing individual behaviors and stress tendencies, facilitating deeper mutual understanding among team members to create a more productive and psychologically safe work environment. Participants were required to complete an FFS personal assessment prior to the workshop. This allowed for tailored team formations during the workshop, where the emphasis was not solely on theory but on practical engagement with their findings.

Workshop Overview

The workshop took place from 2 PM to 5 PM, featuring insights from notable speakers such as:
  • - Hozumi Hattori: A law graduate from Waseda University with extensive experience in HR management at major companies, including Recruit Jobs and Money Forward. Hozumi has been instrumental in rapid organizational growth and team development.
  • - Keietsu Sakai: A graduate in management from Kobe University, with a rich consulting background across various industries. In 2023, he co-founded Relate, focusing on innovative organizational approaches.

Together, they guided participants through the FFS Theory, allowing attendees to engage in meaningful conversations and creative exercises to transform differences into strengths.

Participant Feedback

Responses from participants were overwhelmingly positive, reflecting a deep engagement with the content and its practical applications. Some comments included:
  • - “I learned the importance of understanding that people are not defined solely by their achievements and abilities. Accepting differences is crucial!”
  • - “While I gained more knowledge of FFS Theory, collaborating with individuals of distinct types provided me valuable insights to apply back in my workplace.”
  • - “It reinforced that surface-level information cannot adequately gauge someone's character. Utilizing such tools to understand thought and expression patterns could significantly enhance team dynamics.”

Key Achievements and Future Perspectives

The workshop succeeded in deepening the participants’ understanding of themselves, their colleagues, and team dynamics through FFS Theory. Beyond theoretical input, the hands-on teamwork experience encouraged actionable insights about turning differences into strengths.

HR Library plans to continue its mission of connecting theory and practice under its motto of 'Learning Together to Create Future Opportunities.' Further events are on the horizon, and updates will be posted on their official website and social media. Stay tuned for more opportunities to learn and grow within the HR community!
