SouSou Unveils Digital Death Certification Feature
In a significant advancement for end-of-life planning, SouSou Co., Ltd., headquartered in Arakawa, Tokyo, announced the official launch of its new feature,
Digital Death Certification, set to begin on July 3, 2025. As an evolving end-of-life platform, SouSou has previously offered functions like
Ending Notes, helping users document their preferences and assure safe communication with their families.
A Groundbreaking Approach
The
Digital Death Certification employs an unprecedented method whereby the platform autonomously detects potential mortality based on various indicators. Rather than relying on users to periodically log in or necessitating family members to submit death certificates, this new feature actively monitors the user’s status. If a potential death is detected, the system sends a confirmation request to a designated administrator chosen during the registration process.
A Response to Societal Challenges
With the growing challenges of an aging population, increasing solitary households, and the rising trend of nuclear families, effectively conveying posthumous wishes and procedures without burdening family members is paramount. Existing digital services primarily rely on cumbersome and error-prone verification methods. In this backdrop, SouSou's
Digital Death Certification aims to automate the detection of possible passing, ultimately simplifying the process for families left behind.
Utilizing MyNumber Cards for Enhanced Reliability
The platform's new feature leverages myFintech Co., Ltd.’s
Current Status Confirmation Service to verify the validity of a user's myNumber card’s electronic certificate daily. If the certificate is found to have expired, the system auto-generates a verification request to the previously designated administrator. To finalize death verification, a legally binding digital signature (provided through myFintech’s
myDigital Certificate Service) using Face ID will be executed, solidifying the death confirmation process.
Two Methods of Death Certification
SouSou is committed to meeting user needs by offering
two solutions for death certification. Beyond the newly introduced
A. Digital Death Certification, the platform will continue to provide the traditional
B. Document Submission Certification. This dual approach offers flexibility to users in choosing their preferred method for confirming death.

Digital Death Certification feature has received applause from both industry insiders and consumers alike.
