Interactive Diversity Training Event: Explore DEI Basics Through Fun Board Games

Inclusive Board Game Event and Diversity Training

On February 1st at 70seeds in Monzen-Nakacho, Tokyo, join us for an exciting diversity training event titled "DEI Basics through Puzzles". Organized by Rise & Play, led by Kana Wakui, this event aims to create an inclusive environment where everyone—those with disabilities and those without—can have fun together.

The event will run from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, offering various activities including a board game gathering and a workshop on making decorative animal shogi pieces. Participants can join at their convenience, making it easy for families to spend the day together with engaging activities for children and parents alike.

Focus on Inclusion

One of the core events is a diversity training workshop that addresses crucial themes surrounding disability awareness. With Japan's legally mandated employment rate for people with disabilities at only 2.5%, and with only half of companies meeting this target, there’s significant room for improvement. The common societal biases, misunderstandings, and indifference towards disabilities persist, making it challenging to foster genuine change.

By organizing this event, we aim to enhance community relationships and understanding among attendees. Many leisure activities such as escape games and board games remain inaccessible to visually impaired individuals. Engaging with these communities at a young age can help break down barriers and biases, leading to more meaningful social interactions later in life.

The objective is to normalize the presence of diverse individuals in everyday situations. By making activities like board games accessible to everyone, we hope to increase opportunities for those with disabilities while helping break preconceived notions held by the broader community.

Experience Diversity Through Games

The puzzles and games offered at this event promote critical thinking and communication skills. Participants will also have an opportunity to experience simulations that mimic disabilities—helping to enhance empathy and reflection on bodily sensations and communication.

Our vision is to create an inclusive city where everyone, including service animals, can navigate freely, ensuring that no one is left behind.
