Discover Itakura Town with Akiko Yada

The latest issue of "Monthly Tabiiro" for June 2025, featuring Akiko Yada on the cover, was officially released today by Brangista Media. This digital magazine highlights a collaboration with Itakura Town in Gunma Prefecture, presenting the beauty and attractions of the region to raise awareness and attract more visitors and potential residents.

Itakura Town, located just about an hour from the capital city, is a unique destination known for remarkable experiences, including the only place in Japan where three prefectures meet—the "Tri-Prefectural Border"—and a glider runway for engine-less aircraft. This town captivates visitors with its extraordinary landscapes and offerings. Additionally, it's famous for its river fish cuisine, especially catfish dishes, and the Watarase Yusui Land, recognized internationally as a Ramsar Wetland, where visitors can relax among magnificent natural surroundings. Akiko Yada experienced the town's allure firsthand during her visit, which is covered in this issue.

The June edition also showcases Kanazawa, a city in Ishikawa Prefecture, renowned for its selection as one of "25 World Travel Destinations to Visit in 2025" by a major American media outlet, along with special experiences offered at Prince Hotels during the summer season.

Akiko Yada's Journey

Known for her regular appearances on the TBS program "Lavit!" and numerous variety shows, Akiko Yada expressed her pursuit of relaxation through travel. Reflecting on her first visit to Itakura Town, she remarked, "The comfortable pace of life here was very soothing." She passionately captured many photographs for personal memories. At the glider airfield, she exclaimed, "It’s amazing that some pilots can fly for nearly four hours!" This excitement came alongside a fascinating experience at the Tri-Prefectural Border, where three prefectures converge, leading her to discuss how her travel style has evolved with time.

In her journey through Itakura, Yada explored various day trip plans, noting her memorable visit to Raiden Shrine, where she admired vibrant carvings of folklore characters like Urashima Taro and gently touched a catfish statue, believed to bring confidence. "Passing through the torii gate felt like time stood still—no wonder it's called a power spot," she shared, deeply moved by the sacred atmosphere.

Her culinary experience included savoring local specialties such as catfish sushi. "I thought river fish might have a strong taste, but it was completely different! (omitted) It was exceptionally delicious," she recalled, marking an unforgettable culinary adventure.

Why Residents Love Itakura Town

Visitors often describe Itakura Town as a place where "time flows gently." Its easy access to urban centers and reputation as a low-seismicity area is encouraging more people to choose this town as their new home. In an interview with two families who have moved to the 'Itakura New Town' from the Tobu Nikko Line 'Itakura Toyo Daimae' Station, the allure and quality of life in Itakura were discussed.

Kanazawa: A City of Beauty and Gastronomy

Additionally featured is Kanazawa, a city that has gained renewed attention after being named one of the best world travel destinations to visit in 2025 by National Geographic. The city boasts Edo-period buildings, charming teahouses, and exquisite local cuisine that showcases Japan's traditional beauty and culinary culture.

Unique Experiences at Prince Hotels this Summer

Finally, the issue provides insider insights on selected Prince Hotels across Japan, where guests can indulge in exclusive summer experiences, such as a luxurious morning in a private garden before opening hours and enjoying fireworks from the best viewing spots, making for an unforgettable summer getaway.

The next issue, July 2025, features Mizuki Yamamoto on the cover, set to be released on June 25.
