Career Education in a Hospital: A Unique Event for Children
On December 7, 2025, the Yume Rakuza Project will host its inaugural career education event named "Oshigoto Narikiri Dojo" at the Tokyo Metropolitan Children's Medical Center in Fuchu, Tokyo. This innovative program aims to provide children undergoing long-term hospitalization or frequent outpatient visits with valuable learning opportunities, social connections, and a sense of hope for the future. By offering career education within the hospital setting, this event marks a new direction for the organization.
Background and Need for the Event
Children who are unwell often miss school, leading to a lack of opportunities for learning and career education. Furthermore, as their interactions with friends and society diminish, they may struggle to develop a sense of curiosity and confidence about their future. Meanwhile, it has become increasingly necessary for healthcare settings to address not only medical treatments and nursing care but also children's growth and psychological support.
With this context in mind, the Yume Rakuza Project was established with a desire to help children feel like members of society while they focus on their recovery. This event is built on three fundamental pillars:
1.
Support for Learning: Expanding children's dreams and interests through hands-on career experiences.
2.
Psychological Support: Encouraging smiles and enthusiasm through interactions with adults outside the hospital.
3.
Career Education Foundation: Creating opportunities for children to envision their careers post-discharge.
Previous Achievements
The Yume Rakuza Project has previously organized career experiences for nearly 50,000 children across various venues, including schools and commercial establishments. However, this will be their first initiative within a hospital setting, aiming to establish a new model of social contribution in collaboration with medical institutions.
