Meiji Yasuda and Meiko Gakudo Club Team Up to Educate Future Generations

Supporting Future Generations Through Engaging Education

In a collaborative effort to promote financial literacy and sustainability among younger generations, Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance and Meiko Network Japan have launched an innovative educational event at the Meiko Gakudo Club in Shakujii Park, Tokyo. On May 29, 2025, the club hosted a delightful program designed for elementary school children, teaching them about finance, insurance, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through interactive games and educational activities.

The Concept Behind Meiko Gakudo Club

Meiko Network Japan operates the Meiko Gakudo Club, a place dedicated to providing after-school care that enriches children’s learning experience. Guided by the philosophy of ‘nurturing the roots of learning,’ the club offers various programs that utilize children's after-school hours meaningfully, fostering growth and understanding.

With rising societal interest in financial literacy and sustainability, it is increasingly vital for children to ignite curiosity about finance and the SDGs from an early age. This aligns seamlessly with Meiji Yasuda’s initiative, aimed at supporting future generations by promoting healthy development and environmental conservation.

Event Highlights

The event entitled “Learn Finance and SDGs Through Fun and Games!” was conducted for students from the first to fifth grades, with 22 children eagerly participating. The program aimed to instill essential concepts related to financial responsibility, such as budgeting, contract understanding, and structured money management, using Meiji Yasuda’s original teaching materials. The curriculum also included an engaging session on community development, known as the “Meiji Yasuda Happy Town Maker,” where children learned about the SDGs.

Children’s Feedback

The children shared their experiences, highlighting the excitement and insights they gained from the program:
  • - “I learned how to use money wisely! The quizzes helped make it clear. I want to distinguish between what I want and what I need when spending money.”
  • - “The games were so much fun! I was excited to earn bonus points although some I couldn’t complete. I want to study money more to clear everything! I am saving as per the rules of the bonus I received.”
  • - “The quiz questions were enjoyable. For ‘What do you do when you don’t have enough money?’ I chose to buy something I could afford now. I learned the importance of managing money while playing the urban development game.”
  • - “I loved brainstorming with my team! We managed to connect our ideas and complete everything, which made me very happy.”
