Hojicha & Chocolat Workshop: A Unique Experience at Nana's Green Tea
On February 17, aspiring tea lovers and gourmet enthusiasts are invited to participate in an extraordinary workshop held at
Nana’s Green Tea in Jiyugaoka, Tokyo. This engaging event focuses on the rich flavors and aromas of hojicha (roasted green tea) paired with the delightful taste of chocolate.
Nana's Green Tea, operated by
Nanaha Co., Ltd., has collaborated with
Uicha Nakamura from Kyoto to provide an immersive experience for participants.
The workshop is set against the backdrop of Nana's Green Tea’s campaign,
Hojicha & Chocolat Days, which celebrates the delicious synergy between hojicha and chocolate through a limited-time menu available from January 6 to February 19. Participants will not only enjoy a tasty exploration but also learn from a recognized expert in the art of tea preparation.
What to Expect
At the workshop, participants will witness a demonstration of the hojicha roasting process by Uicha Nakamura itself. They will learn about selecting tea leaves, roasting intricacies, and how different roasting times affect flavor and aroma. Each person will have the chance to taste various hojicha from different roasting levels to fully appreciate the tea's complexity, lingering aftertaste, and the sophisticated characters that emerge from each technique.
Additionally, attendees can indulge in various sweet pairings designed to complement the hojicha. The lineup includes three types of fresh chocolate—made with hojicha, matcha, and kinako—as well as the exclusive
Hojicha Brûlée and popular local sweet,
An Butter Roll. Each dessert harmonizes with hojicha, allowing participants to explore the subtleties of flavor profiles and textures. The pairing of the bittersweet chocolate with hojicha's rustic notes offers an unforgettable gastronomic event.
