New Culinary Experience in Atami
On February 13, 2026, a new dining destination will emerge as
Daijiro’s Xiao Long Bao opens its doors in the vibrant
Ginza Shopping Street of Atami. This restaurant is a proud expansion from its original establishment in
Higashi-Nakano, Tokyo, which commenced operations in
2017. Known for its dedication to crafting the perfect dumpling, Daijiro's Xiao Long Bao promises a delightful culinary experience that is meticulously prepared for every patron.
A Commitment to Quality
At Daijiro’s, each dumpling represents the culmination of rigorous research and hands-on craftsmanship. The owner,
Dai Jiro Shirakawa, has invested years into perfecting the skin, filling, and soup of the Xiao Long Bao, ensuring an unparalleled taste. His culinary creations have garnered acclaim not only in standalone shops but have also made their way into hotels and Chinese restaurants across the region. Although plans to expand to Las Vegas led to the closure of the Higashi-Nakano store, changing circumstances prompted the re-establishment in the picturesque town of Atami.
As a hallmark of quality, every dumpling is steamed fresh upon ordering, allowing customers to enjoy the rich aroma and flavor immediately. With an inviting atmosphere, the restaurant promises both culinary delight and an appreciation of fine craftsmanship, combined in a space that harmonizes food, art, and Japanese culture.
Artistic Ambiance
The interior boasts the contemporary works of modern ukiyo-e artist
Masumi Ishikawa, whose masterpieces adorn the second-floor dining area. Vibrant, large-scale murals feature dynamic imagery, including two cats alongside the beloved dumplings and steamers. This artistic representation of the Xiao Long Bao not only celebrates the dish but also creates a unique dining environment where customers can indulge in both gourmet delights and visual artistry.
Adding to the aesthetic appeal are ceramic sculptures by artist
Hakuaki, enhancing the ambiance with playful cat figurines. Moreover, the restaurant's sign, made from precious Yakusugi wood, features a meticulously carved logo by an Atami cedar craftsman, further showcasing the harmony of art and food.
