Woodpack Global Launches Crate Design System™

Addressing an Industry Need

Despite their importance, the foundation of crate design has remained relatively stagnant, relying heavily on research and methodologies dating back to the 1960s. The Crate Design System builds upon the strong foundation of Woodpack Global's existing Pallet Design System™ (PDS), tailoring some of its core principles regarding fastener behavior, wood properties, and structural performance specifically for crate applications. The initial version of CDS focuses on designing sheathed and cleated crates, as well as solid wood boxes. The company has plans for subsequent releases that will expand functionality to include a wider array of crate styles, additional design tools, integration with CAD software, and support for other wood packaging formats.
